⚠ Considerations for Review

Adobe CC dependency: Both fonts are served via Adobe Fonts. If the Creative Cloud subscription lapses, all site visitors will see fallback fonts — not the brand fonts. A lapsed subscription means an instant, sitewide brand inconsistency.

Not distinctive to agriculture: Azo Sans and Myriad Pro are polished, professional fonts, but they read as tech or corporate — not farm or rural. They differentiate Kencove from catalog-style competitors, but don't reinforce the agricultural identity.

Myriad Pro is aging: Apple used Myriad Pro as their system font from 2002–2017, then replaced it. It's familiar and highly readable, but it no longer signals "current" to design-aware audiences.

No self-hosting allowed: Adobe's license prohibits hosting the font files on Kencove's own servers. The site will always depend on Adobe's CDN being available and fast.

Why Google Fonts loads faster

Google Fonts only downloads the exact weights you specify — for example, Regular, Bold, and Black only. Adobe Fonts loads the entire project as a single bundle, meaning every font in the project downloads whether the page uses it or not. On a page that only needs two weights, Adobe still delivers all 22+ fonts in the project. Google's approach means smaller files and faster load times, with no unused font data transferred to the visitor.

Dawn (Shopify Free Theme)

Dawn is Shopify's flagship free theme — clean, performant, and built with Online Store 2.0 sections. Most homepage sections in this prototype map directly to Dawn's built-in sections, requiring only CSS overrides to match Kencove's navy/orange color system. It uses .liquid templates and supports full section/block customization from the theme editor.

Sections Requiring Custom Code

Mega Menu

Dawn's nav supports basic dropdowns only. The multi-column mega menu with the Quick Links panel requires custom Liquid + JavaScript. Recommend building as a snippets/mega-menu.liquid snippet and injecting via the header section.

Quick Order Bar

Requires a custom section with JavaScript that calls the Shopify AJAX Cart API (/cart/add.js) to look up a product by SKU and add it directly to cart without navigating away.

Shop by Animal

Each animal links to a filtered collection. Implement using Shopify product tags (e.g. animal_cattle) or metafields. A custom section with section.settings blocks for each animal (name, icon, link URL) keeps it editable from the theme editor without touching code.

Brand Logo Carousel

The auto-scrolling carousel is CSS animation-based (no JS library needed). Implement as a custom section with a blocks loop so editors can add/remove brand logos from the theme editor. Duplicate the logo set in markup for the seamless loop effect.

Shopify Logic & Conditional Rendering

Odoo CRM Sync

Orders placed on Shopify sync to Odoo via the Shopify–Odoo connector app. Customer accounts, order history, and dealer status tags should be managed in Odoo and pushed to Shopify customer records via the API.
